Privacy policy of the Dao De Jing site
dao-de-jing.com has no accounts, no cookies, no analytics and no advertising, and no page loads anything from another website. The only record the site keeps of your visit is the web server's standard access log, kept for a limited time for security.
What stays on your device
- Your settings (text size, theme, speed and the other options) and the place where you stopped listening are kept in your browser's local storage. They are never sent to the server.
- Pages you have visited, and the audio if you download it for offline listening, are kept in your browser's cache. "Remove downloaded audio" in the settings deletes the audio. Clearing this site's data in your browser deletes everything.
What the server keeps
Like almost every web server, the server that hosts this site keeps standard access logs: the IP address, the date and time, the address of the page or file requested and the browser's user agent. They are used only for security and to keep the site running, and are deleted after a limited time.
The apps
The Android app shows this same website through your browser (Chrome or another browser that supports it) and collects nothing of its own. On iPhone and iPad, "Add to Home Screen" does the same. Your browser's own privacy policy applies to the browser itself.
